The first annual North Platte Walleyes Unlimited Banquet and Seminar was far better than anyone could have predicted. The doors opened to the Ball Room at the Holiday Inn at 5:00 PM. We were limited to 250 tickets because that was all the room would hold. Unfortunately, some folks without tickets showed up and had to be turned away. Ron Gazvoda, professional walleye angler, gave a short presentation on how to be that professional fisher-man/ woman that most only dream about. Dinner was served at 7:00 and the main course "walleye" was prepared three different ways to suit everyone's taste. While people were waiting to go through the line or feasting on the wonderful meal, our crew was busy passing out prizes, conducting chance events and auctioning many outstanding trips, artwork, antiques, and other merchandise. What a crowd! Word has it, the club came out about $5,000 to the good off this event. None of this could have been possible without the support of our many sponsors, the attendees and those who worked so hard making this banquet a reality. Most of our sponsors were announced at the banquet but as usual, a few were inadvertently omitted. One of those omitted was Roger Hessler from the Sand Bar Lounge. Roger supplied the banquet with that all to important beverage, "beer". Thanks Roger. Roger and the rest of our sponsors and supporters will be receiving thank-you cards in the mail soon. There are just too many club members to thank in this article, but "you know who you are and you know your efforts are most appreciated". I do feel it is important to mention by name, one person who worked far above and beyond what should have expected. A special thanks goes to our treasurer, LaCinda Tilton. Somehow, she was able to take care of tickets, take renewed and new membership applications as well as chase down auction winners and somehow keep order to the income, outcome and books. Very well done to all! Now, it is time to start getting ready for next year. Click here for more info, entry form If you have not renewed your membership, it is now expired. Please renew by sending in the membership application enclosed. John Lawson will give a presentation on reservoir levels, predictions and drought info on Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at (White's Marine). Tight Lines -- Bruce |
