Meeting is 7 p.m., April 1
at the Game and Fish building
Our meetings are the first Thursday
of the month
A huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone that helped make our 7th Annual All You Can Eat Walleye banquet a success. We had over 400 people attend this year! Down a little from 2009 but about what we expected. With your support and the support of the many businesses within the area the club raised over $20,000 to go towards our charitable contributions throughout Wyoming, including providing fishing poles to children at the Sportsmans Expo and Yessness Pond fishing derby. A special thanks to Woody who was unable to attend the banquet due to an illness, but did somehow seem to make sure that all of brochures and signs were made. Not sure how he gets it all done but always does a great job. Thanks to LaCinda who does just a fantastic job with the money side of things, there is no way this could possibly happen without her. And lets not forget the group we had at the Parkway Plaza the Thursday night before the banquet where we skinned 400 pounds of walleye in what I think was a new record time.
The club has been given 2 commissioner tags to be auctioned or sold to the highest bidder. We did sell the first commissioner tag for the price of $9,000. We are still taking bids for the second tag. Please have them contact Brian Woodward at 307-258-8898 if they are interested.
I would also like to encourage all members to attend our monthly meeting. We will be doing some presentations over the next couple of months on how to find and catch those springtime walleyes. The meetings are also a great way to get your input on how we can use our funds throughout the community. We are always looking for new events to be involved with.
Last but not least. As many of you know, the Game and Fish Department has been working hard at preserving our waters here in Wyoming to protect from aquatic nuisances house bill 18 passed the week of March 15th. This will allow G&F the authority to protect the waters as they see fit. Word is that beginning Memorial Day, the G&F will be doing boat and trailer inspections on all boats and rafts that are put into any body of water in Wyoming. Our input and feedback will be critical here as this could change how we access our waters in the future. They will be looking at boats, trailers, livewells, etc for signs of zebra and quagga mussels. It is extremely important that we as responsible boaters make sure we are doing everything possible to insure we are doing what we can to help protect our waters. Please make sure that you keep your boats clean. Make sure trailers are clean and no moss or weeds are hanging off the bunks. Live wells must be emptied each trip and recommended to be sanitized with a mild water and bleach solution. At this time we are not sure how the inspection process is going to work. On some bodies of water it may be as simple as the boater filling out a self evaluation confirming they are clean and clear of the aquatic nuisances. In other instances you may be stopped on the boat ramp or other designated location to be inspected before entering the water. At this time G&F is putting these rules and regulations together. We will let you know more when we know. Brian Woodward NPWU President
Al Condor, regional fisheries supervisor of the Wyoming Game and Fish Dept. will be on hand at our April meeting to give us information on the 2009 gill net surveys of area lakes and on the up to date info on the boat inspections for invasive species starting soon.
We have begun meeting with representatives of Game and Fish and the Casper Dept of recreation for planning on the Kids Fishing Day at Harry Yesness Pond that will be held on June 5. We will need volunteers to help.
Toughman Tournament
The “Toughman Tournament” is on Saturday, April 24th. This has always been a perfect fishing day as long as you don’t mind a bit of snow, ice, cold, blowing wind, and a slow bite. This is more of a membership drive than a fund raiser. Actually we try to lose a few bucks during the tournament. Applications for the toughman will be in next months newsletter and are available online at our web site. Tournament launch and weigh in will be at the Alcova Marina and all team captains will be required to check in prior to launch.
Fishing reports
Area lakes are still ice covered as this is written. My guess is that we will be able to put boats on Glendo and Alcova in the next few days.
Snowpack data for the upper North Platte Drainage looks good at over 90% of average. One more good snow fall south of Rawlins and a couple of closed interstate 80 should do it.
Seminoe Reservoir is at 68% of full pool and is starting to fill a bit. Pathfinder is at 72% full and should increase capacity for the next few months.

The half-wit
A man owned a small farm in Northern Missouri. The State of Missouri Wage & Hours Department claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him. “I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them”, demanded the Agent.
“Well,” replied the farmer, “there’s my farm hand who’s been with me for 3 years. I pay him $400 a week plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 month, and I pay her $300 per week plus free room and board.
"Then there’s the half-wit. He works about 16 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10.00 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of Bourbon every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally."
“That’s the guy I want to talk to.....the half-wit” says the Agent.
“That would be me” replied the farmer.
