UPCOMING CALENDAR OF EVENTS

June 18: NPWU Family Outing, Glendo Reservoir

July 23: NPWU Family Outing - Pathfinder Reservoir

Our annual banquet has come and gone.  It is always a relief to the volunteers to see the day after arrive.  It was not without a few glitches, like the fish not showing up the Wednesday before the banquet as planned.  A few panic phone calls and a tap dance or two,  a canceled Thursday fish skinning party and rescheduled to Friday, and waiting to see if the fish showed up.  It all worked out and we netted $22,000 and change for our efforts.  With the proceeds from the sale of the Commissioner’s tag this year we have a bit over $30,000 in income this year.  We also picked up about 38 new members at the banquet.  Those who have not renewed their membership this year will be dropped next month.
We have reduced our membership fees to $20 for single and family.
The Club banquet for 2012 will be March 3rd.

I would like to mention our donors to the 2011 Banquet and say thanks for supporting us.  They are: Chatters Bar, Rich Hepner All State Insurance, Wild Well Service, Diamond Vogel Paint, Bar D Signs, John Green, Ken Mayer, Walkers VP Bait Shop, PK Lures, Kevin Reinhart, Greg Alvar, Wyoming Automotive, Casper Auto Supply, MC Enterprises, Hoods Sprinklers and Equipment, All Property Brokers, Overman Realty, Casper Building Supply, Ron Lesco, Dave’s Darts & Parts
Vivi Crandle, Silver Fox Lounge/ Armors Restaurant, Wyoming Walleye Stampede, Alcova Marina,
Wyoming Fly Casters Association, Rocky Mountain Discount Sports, Bundy’s Marine, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Rick Walter, and Brian Woodward.

We will be having club elections at this months meeting.  You might want to attend to insure your not elected to a position of authority and or responsibility.  We will be electing all officers and directors.  Those not attending are most likely to be elected, you have been warned.

I forgot to mention last month that we had a winner in our “lucky loser” drawing at our Febuary meeting.  That winner was Ken Mayer,  he won the Sportsman’s Warehouse $100 gift certificate plus a $20 add on.  We draw from our entire membership each month and if that member is present they win the gift certificate.  If no winner we then add $10 each month.

The Alcova Lakeside Marina would like to invite all of us to their “Grand Reopening” April 29th, at 3:00 PM.  Stop by and check out the newly remodeled facility.  The Bar and Restaurant will be open.  The Alcova Marina would like to provide a warm breakfast burrito and coffee the morning of the “Toughman” tournament, April 30th.  They will have this available at the registration table from 6-7 AM.  There will be a small fee for the service.  If you would like to have this for breakfast, contact Jay Zastrow at 265-6877 so he can tell the marina how much food to provide.

A reminder that April 30th is our “toughman tournament”.  This is essentially a membership drive as all contestants are required to be a member of North Platte Walleyes Unlimited.  Entry fees are $100 per boat with three anglers per boat permitted.  There is a $10 late fee for entries received after April 27.  It will be attempted to have a 100% payback at the tournament including door prizes. Entry forms are available at most area sporting goods stores and online at our website.  We have set up paypal payment of entry fees and membership fees online at our
website as well.  I would like to remind all that check in for the tournament
is required at the kiosk behind the Marina before the tournament.

The club has appropriated $4000 towards a floating dock for Oakie Beach at
Alcova Reservoir.  This will be matched with county funds and perhaps other
funding.  There is to be a meeting regarding the dock Thursday April 7th,
2011 at 1:00 PM at Natrona County Road and Bridge office, 538 S W Wyoming Blvd,
Mills. Dock representative will be there along with head and assistant head of Natrona
County Parks. The supervisor of the fellows that work at the lakes will also be there.
Anyone that wants to go is welcome.  Any questions, call Bob Gervais  235-1794.

Watercraft and Equipment Inspection and Decontamination Training

Zebra and quagga mussels have been found in neighboring Colorado, Utah, and
Nebraska.
Invasive mussels, and other aquatic invasive species, spread quickly and can
be brought to Wyoming on trailered watercraft and equipment. This training will provide the skills
necessary to inspect, detect, contain, and decontaminate trailered watercraft that may be transporting zebra or quagga mussels into Wyoming.

In an effort to educate water resource managers and seasonal watercraft inspectors in Wyoming,
the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, is offering this watercraft inspection and decontamination training. This training is for state, federal, and local natural resource agency personnel who will be involved in watercraft inspections.

This training includes information on outreach and education programs, basic mussel biology,
distribution, transport vectors, and impacts. The focus is on how to inspect for and decontaminate
trailered watercraft that may be transporting zebra or quagga mussels. It includes classroom
instruction, a question and answer session, and a hands-on watercraft inspection exercise.
This training is free, but you must register with the Wyoming Game & Fish Department by May 1st. To register, send an email to: Sherril Rahe at Sherril.Rahe@wgf.state.wy.us. Please provide your name, title, address, phone number, and agency or business association. Limited to 20 people.

We received this from Nathan Cook, Fisheries Biologist, Wyoming Game and Fish Department:
I wanted to let you know about the AIS boat inspector training that the Game and Fish will be giving in June. The training is open to the public and is free. I am not sure if anyone with the walleye club might be interested in becoming an instructor, but we are trying to drum up some assistance from concerned members of the public.

Details are attached

Aquatic Invasive Species Stickers

The 2011 AIS stickers are available online from the Wyoming Game and Fish web site and from the major retail licensing agents.  No zebra or quagga mussels were found in Wyoming last year.  They have been found in Colorado and Utah.

AND NOW FOR THE FILLERS...

Rosa and Arthur, now well into their 80’s, went to breakfast at Bert’s Café where the ”seniors’ special” was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99.
’Sounds good,’ murmured Rosa. ’But I don’t want eggs.’
’Then I’ll have to charge you three dollars and forty-nine cents because you’re ordering à la carte,’ the waitress warned her.
’You mean I’d have to pay for not taking the eggs?’ Rosa spluttered.
’Yes.’ stated the waitress.
’I’ll take the special then.’ Rosa eventually decided, smiling at Arthur.
’How do you want your eggs?’ the waitress asked.
’Raw and still in the shell,’ Rosa answered with a glint in her eye.
Rosa took the two eggs home.
Moral of the story: You can’t keep a good old’un down.

Dylan is in a queue at the Supermarket when he notices that the rather dishy blonde behind him has just raised her hand and is giving him a big ’hello’.
He is rather taken aback that such a looker would be waving to him, and although her face is vaguely familiar, Dylan can’t place where he might know her from, so he says, ’Sorry, do you know me?’
She replies, ’I may be mistaken, but I thought you might be the father of one of my children’
Dylan’s mind shoots back to the one and only time he has been unfaithful, ’Blimey!’ he says, ’Did we meet on Frank’s stag do in Newport?  Dylan continued, ’When I was released from the police station and got back to the hotel room, you had gone.’
No, ’she replies, ’I’m your son’s English Teacher’.

After a quarrel, a wife said to her husband, ’You know, I was a fool when I married you.’ The husband replied, ’Yes, dear, but I was in love and didn’t notice.’

Eddie and his wife June are shopping in their local supermarket.  The husband picks up a case of Heineken and puts it in their cart.

’What do you think you’re doing?’ asks June.

’They’re on sale, only $15 for 24 cans Eddie replies.

’Put them back, we can’t afford them’ demands the wife, and so they carry
on shopping.

A few aisles further on along June picks up a $30 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.

Husband jokes ‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks Eddie.
’It’s my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,’ replies the wife.

Her husband retorts: ’So does 24 cans of Heineken and it’s half the price.’

Eddie never knew what hit him.

The next thing he heard on the supermarket PA system was: ’Cleanup on aisle 19, we have a husband down.’
