Next meeting is 7 p.m.
Thursday Dec. 6, 2007
at Wyoming Game and Fish

Coming up is our last meeting of the year. We have decided to make it a more festive event and will try to make it more of a party atmosphere. The Silver Fox Resturant and Lounge has offered to cook up a brisket for us. We will have some other finger food and soft drinks . If you can bring a side dish, salad, desert, cookie, or fudge type item it would be appreciated.

We will have a guaranteed winner of the Sportsman's Warehouse $100 gift certificate at this meeting as we will draw until some club member wins. There will also be a drawing of all the losing raffle tickets over the last year for a nice prize which I believe is an embroidered jacket. And lastly we have about 50 "gifts" we intend to give away. Every person who shows up will receive a ticket and we will draw from that lot until all the gifts are given away. So bring friends and family for a nice club get together.

At last months meeting we had a presentation from a representative from the Wyoming Wildlife Federation. She informed us as to their mission of communicating the need of balancing energy development and protecting wildlife habitat at the same time. If you are concerned about these relationships and want to learn more on what you can do to help you can get more information at www.ourpubliclands.org. On that site it is listed that Wyoming might very well be the recipient of 58,209 new gas and oil wells over the for seeable future. That may be cause for concern.

Our November winning losers was George or Susan Overman. Each month we draw from the entire membership list and if that member is present, they receive a $100 gift certificate from Sportman's Warehouse.

Howard Ewart sent me part of the Wyoming Game and Fish newsletter. It had some information regarding walleye work being done at Boysen and Ocean lakes. I'll put it in our January newsletter in it's entirety.

We are now in our twice a month banquet meeting mode. If anyone would like to share in the heavy lifting of putting on that event you are welcome to attend. Our next banquet meeting is Tuesday December 11th at 6:00 PM at the Silver Fox Lounge on CY avenue. If you would like to be reminded of meeting dates by email contact LaCinda Tilton.

With members from all across Wyoming, NPWU is dedicated to improving our fisheries, fostering family-based recreation, promoting sound conservation ethics, supporting both the weekend angler and the tournament fisherman, and introduce the great sport of fishing to as many Wyoming youths as possible. We are also very active in community service.Ê Some of our activities in the past 10 years include donating $500 to the Wyoming Flycasters club to help promote constant flow of water through Fremont Canyon at Alcova Reservoir to create a trout fishery; supporting financially every year from it's inception of the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Heritage Expo, we are now a bronze sponsor;Êdonating $1800 to the Wyoming Game and Fish in the Lander district for equipment for their crappie habitat enhancement program at their request; last year purchased and donated a $3400 courtesy dock to Glendo State Park to help ease the congestion at the boat ramps. As a club we gathered, transported, and sunk hundreds of Christmas trees into Golden Eye reservoir for habitat enhancement with the guidance of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Currently we are a major primary financial sponsor of the Casper Fire/EMS life jacket loan program with $3000 dollars of life jackets already purchased and donated to this life saving and worth while program.

We have recently donated $7500 to the College foundation that will be matched by state grants for a perpetual scholarship endowment for $15,000. Hopefully this might enable some students to enter the field of wildlife management.

This year we budgeted $5000 for the purchase of fishing poles, reels, line and tackle to be given away at this years Hunting and Fishing Heritage expo to kids from all areas of the state, and will be given away at our kids day planned for early spring in 2008 at Harry Yesness Park in cooperation with the Wyoming Game and Fish Dept.

In the last three years we have held free seminars in walleye fishing techniques and to give away fishing poles to area kids.ÊWe maintain an informational website dealing with Wyoming news and conditions.

We would appreciate consideration of a Commissioners tag that we might auction or raffle at our 5th Annual Banquet on March 8th, 2008 to raise funds for our continued community service Last month we sent off letters to each of the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission-ers asking to be considered for one of the big game tags that each commissioner receives and then donates to various non-profit organizations to be sold or raffled off. We mentioned the community service projects we funded over the last few years.

I thought I would insert part of that letter so that our members can see all the good things we have been involved with. I think we should be proud of our accomplishments.

Fishing reports, tips and tricks

Last month I had a bit about diesel fuel lubrication qualities or the lack thereof. The test chart showed that the best solution was a 2% mixture of bio-diesel with regular diesel fuel or about 1 gallon of bio-diesel per tankful.

I have since learned that bio diesel is available at Link Oil which is out past the Sinclair refinery on the old Glenrock Highway. They have B-20 (20%bio-diesel) in one of their pumps and also have B-85 (85% bio-diesel) available in bulk. Take out a 5 gallon jug and they can fill it for you and that should be good for five tanks of fuel. Other than the cost of driving out there, the cost of insuring adequate lubrication would be about $.50 per tank full. I should mention that they are closed from noon to 1PM so plan ahead.

On the lighter side

Super Bowl Tickets

A man had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sits down, a man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No," he says, "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"

He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we haven't been to together since we got married in 1987."

"Oh...I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else, a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head. "No they're all at the funeral."

Some quick ones

--- I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.

--- Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: "And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked. She simply replied, "No peer pressure."

--- The nice thing about being senile is you can hide your own Easter eggs.

--- Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, "How old was your husband?" "98," she replied. "Two years older than me." "So you're 96," the undertaker commented. She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?

--- An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart. "Wal-Mart?" the preacher exclaimed. "Why Wal-Mart?" "Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week."

---My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

--- Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.

---I've still got it, but nobody wants to see it.

---I'm getting into swing dancing. Not on purpose. Some parts of my body are just prone to swinging.

---It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffeemaker.

---These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, "For fast relief."

---I've tried to find a suitable exercise video for women my age, but they haven't made one called "Buns of Putty."
