Meeting is 7 p.m., December 3,
at Wyoming Game and Fish in Casper
Our meetings are the first Thursday
of the month
Free Food!
Free Prizes!!
Free Drawings!!!
It’s that time again, our third annual NPWU Christmas Party. Bernard of Silver Fox Restaurant graciously agreed to cook up the Pork and Beef brisket for us. Plates and silverware and soft drinks will be provided. It is requested you bring a side dish if possible. All are welcome so bring a guest.
We will have a drawing for the Sportman’s Warehouse $100 gift certificate and we will have a winner from those attending. We will also be drawing for the embroidered club logo jacket from all the losing raffle tickets.
At our last meeting Ms Teevens, Natrona County Assistant Parks and Recreation manager gave a presentation on the planning for a new master plan for Alcova, Gray Reef and Pathfinder recreation areas. This will be done over the next two years. This will involve the possibilities of new camping areas, boat ramps, lake access areas. and other considerations. There will be public meetings as this progresses and all are invited to make comments and suggestions.
John Green also made a presentation on a televison project he is working on. Here is a chance to fish against a Pro fisherman and win $2500 (lose and you win $1000) and it only costs $20.00 per chance. Go to www.thefishingcrew.com/ for more details. Half of the proceeds goes to charity.
The club voted to pay $200 for the new signs going up at Glendo Reservoir explaining the new 15” minimum length for walleyes. Game and Fish will order the signs and we will pay for them. One of the cool things is our club logo will be on each one. The signs will be placed at each boat ramp on the lake and other areas as needed.
The date for our 2010 “All You Can Eat” walleye banquet is March 6th, our Toughman is April 26th, our June family outing is the 19th, our July family outing is the 17th.
I’m not positive about the last two, I’ll get back to you.
We are working on a plan to be able to use PayPal for membership fees and
also for Toughman entry fees. That should be completed by the January
meeting.
We had a winning lucky loser at our November meeting. Glen Bray won
for the second time who then won a good portion of the raffle items...again.
I almost forgot. One little bit of news that may be of interest to a few of our members. We received a “Commissioners Tag”. I don’t hunt so I’m not sure exactly what this is but I’ve been told this tag allows the owner to hunt for elk, deer, or antelope in the area of his choice with few restrictions. We will be deciding how to sell or otherwise dispose of this tag in the next month or two. Some tags have brought in eight to ten thousand dollars for their respective organizations. It has been suggested that we earmark whatever funds we receive from the sale of this tag for walleye enhance-ment projects. I suggested ........text removed in deference to some of our readers.
During the last month we donated 50 fishing poles to the Toys for Tots program. Another 20 was donated to the Casper office of the Wyoming Game and Fish for their pole loaner program as their inventory was getting shabby.
Special Notice:
The 2010 Banquet committee is meeting Tuesday, December 1st at 6:00PM at Armor’s Silver Fox. We are looking for volunteers to help with the planning and organizing and the heavy lifting that this project requires.
Area waters
A conversation with Al Condor, Wyoming Game and Fish fisheries Super-
visor confirmed that they are seriously looking into capturing gizzard shad
from either Glendo or Grey Rocks for stocking into Pathfinder Reservoir.
The Game and Fish has completed annual gill net surveys. All they have at the moment is raw data that will melt down into useable information over the two months or so. But it was mentioned that if your inclined to want a big walleye, Alcova was the place to be. They said there were many, many big fish in Alcova. Don’t say I told you.
The snow pack in the upper North Platte drainage is currently 97% of average so we are holding our own. Seminoe and Pathfinder reservoirs are at 68 and 71% of full pool and have remained mostly unchanged over the last month. With all the water currently in these reservoirs I’ve heard that everybody has to find new “spots” as the old ones are now 40 or more feet down. I’ve not had that problem as I never did have “spots” except the ones that come with age.

Recipes
It is common knowledge that walleyes are better eating than trout. But in our pursuit of these tasty morsels, we invariably catch a trout or two. If they are gill hooked or otherwise mortally wounded we are obliged to keep them. So because of that I have decided to search the internet for a suitable recipe to make the trout more palatable. Here is the first attempt:
TROUT ALMONDINE
8 to 12 trout fillets
Milk to cover
2 tsp. salt
4 drops Tabasco
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. olive oil
Soak fillets in a mixture of milk and Tabasco sauce for several hours. Season flour with 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Remove fillets from milk as needed and dip in flour, shaking off excess flour. In an electric skillet at 375 degrees, fry fillets until golden brown in the butter and oil. Do a few at a time, and as cooked place on a warm platter or cookie sheet and keep warm in the oven until ready to serve. These may be kept in a warm oven up to 3 hours.
SAUCE:
1 c. butter
1/2 c. almonds, sliced
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. parsley, chopped
Prepare sauce by melting butter and lightly browning almonds in butter. Add lemon juice, Worcestershire, salt and parsley. Mix and heat well. Just before serving, pour some sauce over trout and serve remaining sauce separately. If the sauce is made ahead of time, add the almonds at the last minute so they will remain crunchy
On the lighter side
Strange but true
The Chico, California, City Council enacted a ban on nuclear weapons, setting a $500 fine for anyone detonating one within city limits
A bus carrying five passengers was hit by a car in St. Louis, but by the time police arrived on the scene, fourteen pedestrians had boarded the bus and had begun to complain of whiplash injuries and back pain.
Poacher Marino Malerba shot a stag standing above him on an overhanging rock and was killed instantly when it fell on him.
Ann Arbor:The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan at 12:50am, flashed a gun and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn’t open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren’t available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away.
