![]() North Platte WU Newsletter Editor Feb. 7, 2008 at Wyoming Game and Fish We are rapidly approaching our fifth annual banquet, which is March 8th, 2008. Tickets are available but will most likely be sold out very soon. Tickets will be available at our February meeting or you may contact one of the club officials noted below. If you have sold all your tickets please contact LaCinda Tilton to turn in your ticket stubs and money asap. This will help us keep track of available tickets for those annual last minute demand of tickets. At every meeting we have a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Sportsman's Warehouse. If that member is present, they win the certificate. If not present they become that month's winning loser. January's winning loser was Ron and Sherry Lesko. Because of scheduling problems this years Toughman Tournament at Alcova Reservoir will be held on May 3rd. Entry forms are included in this months newsletter. Payouts and rules are the same as last year as is the entry fee. For further information, contact Howard Tilton at the number listed below. Other than the banquet, the biggest event we are involved with this year will be the Kids Fishing Day held at Harry Yesness Park on May 10th. We will be giving away the bulk of the fishing poles we have budgeted for this year and will be assisting with manpower to help the kids with any fishing problems that come up. This could be a real feather in our cap if this goes well. This event is put on by the Casper Recreation Center with the assistance of the Casper office of the Wyoming Fish and Game. This year the North Platte Walleye Club has asked to be a part of that event and we were received with much appreciation and enthusiasm. We will need at least a dozen club volunteers to agree to show up and help put on this event. Normally this event receives about 200 to 250 kids. We expect a higher number this year. If you would like to participate with this project please contact Woody Giles at 235-1405. Fishing reports, tips and tricks Boats were reported to be fishing on Alcova Reservoir in mid month of January so I suspect the ice might be very spotty. The bite is tapering off at Boysen for walleye but the perch seems to fair to good. It was reported that three diesel pickups were spotted parked next to each other on the ice at Boysen so the ice is safe in at least one spot. It was also reported by one fisherman that in years past while fishing in one spot most of the day with wide spread tip-ups, when he went to retreive his tip-ups and using a different path than used previously he walked over a spot that apparently was over a warm spring in the lake, he fell though. So be careful out there These businesses support us Here is the list of Donors and Sponsors of our 2007 Banquet. Drop by and say thanks!
Some great quotes Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity On the lighter side God and the blonde A blonde finds herself in serious financial trouble. Her business has gone bust, and she's in dire straits. She's desperate, so she decides to ask God for help. She begins to pray: "God, please help me. I've lost my business, and if I don't get some money I'm going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lottery." Lottery night comes, and somebody else wins. She again prays: "God, please let me win the lottery! I've lost my business, my house and I'm going to lose my car as well." Lottery night comes, and she still has no luck. Once again, she prays: "My God, why have you forsaken me? I've lost my business, my house, and my car. My children are starving. I don't often ask You for help, and I've always been a good servant to You. PLEASE let me win the lottery just this one time so I can get my life back in order." Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open. The blonde is overwhelmed by the Voice of God, Himself ... "Sweetheart, work with Me on this. "Buy a lottery ticket!" wyowalleyenewsletter@hotmail.com Tight Lines -- Woody G. |
