We have completed our out of town trips to distribute kids fishing kits. We gave away nearly all of the 1600 rod/reel/tackle outfits we started this year with. We were a big hit every where we went. We received many thank you cards and notes from kids, parents and event sponsors. Inside is a representative response we received.
At our June meeting it was decided to purchase another $5000 worth of kids fishing kits, they were ordered, delivered and are now in our trailer. We have another 1000 kits in storage and they will soon be loaded up for our big give-a-way this September at the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Expo at the Casper Events Center.
We haven’t had any offers on our latest Commissioners Tag. If any members have any contacts or suggestions on how to dispose of the tag let us know.
Note the date change for the NPWU family outing below. We forgot to reserve the shelter for the previous date. Stuff happens. Another reminder is inside, let’s have a good turn out this time, no excuses.
Wyoming Game and Fish was able to capture one million sauger eggs and sent them to be raised at a Montana warm water hatchery. I believe they will be raised to fingerling size and brought back to Wyoming. I will try to find out where they will be going, it has been reported in the past that returning sauger to the North Platte below Glenrock was planned.
For those who care, Goldeneye reservoir has much better water quality, enough so that Game and Fish have stocked it with trout. It now has cutthroat and rainbow trout to 20” with some brook trout and grayling.
At each club meeting we have a drawing from our entire membership. If that member is present they win a $100 gift certificate from Sportsman’s Warehouse. If no winner we add $10 to the prize. The June lucky loser was Robin and Pam Irwin. The July prize is now worth $150.
It saddens me to write that a long time active member of North Platte Walleyes Unlimited, Roy Herrington passed away June 21st. He was very much
an asset to our club for many, many years. He will be missed.
Tagging Study Needs Your Help
Wyoming Game and Fish will be posting the following sign at Alcova Reservoir in the near future. They are currently trying to catch walleyes in Alcova for this tagging study. I understand it is not going as well as could be hoped. It should improve as the water warms up. Stay tuned.

Please help us manage the Alcova walleye fishery.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is conducting a tagging study to learn more about this walleye fishery.
Your help is essential to the success of this study.
Please inspect all walleye for tags. Tags are blaze orange in color and are located directly behind the dorsal fin on the walleye’s back.
Please do the following if you catch a tagged walleye:
1) Clip the tag from the fish
2) Place the tag in a tag return envelope
3) Fill in the information on the tag return envelope
4) Place the envelope in a park fee drop box
Tag return envelopes will be available at fee booths or from Game and Fish personnel.
You can also mail the tags to the:
Casper Regional Office of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Call 1-800-233-8544 (in-state toll free) or 307-473-3400 for mailing information.
Aquatic Invasive Species Stickers
The 2011 AIS stickers are available online from the Wyoming Game and Fish web site and from the major retail licensing agents. No zebra or quagga mussels were found in Wyoming last year. They have been found in Colorado and Utah.
Area Lake Levels as of 7-3-2011

And now for something completely different
A linguistics professor was lecturing his class the other day. ”In English,” he said, ”a double negative forms a positive. However, in some languages, such as Russian, a double negative remains a negative. But there isn’t a single language, not one, in which a double positive can express a negative.”
A voice from the back of the room retorted, ”Yeah, right.”
