Meeting is 7 p.m., June 4,
at Wyoming Game and Fish in Casper

Our meetings are the first Thursday
of the month

June is here and we have two events coming up. First is the Kids Fishing Day June 6th at Harry Yesness pond. This is put on by the Casper Recreation Dept and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department of Casper. It is the first of two events scheduled where we will be showing up to give away fishing pole/tackle kits. This has the potential of being a huge event. Last year we showed up to the event with six inches of snow on the ground and cold temperatures. 167 kids still showed up and received fishing poles. We will be showing up with 800 plus fishing poles this year.

We could really use some club members to volunteer to help rig up poles or assist kids and their parents in the basics of fishing. The event is broken up into two sessions, first starting at 9:00am to 11:00am and the second starting at 12:00 to 3:00pm. Parking will be a problem and if possible car pool to the park. Parking is available at Cresthill Elementary on Poplar which is only a short distance away. Lunch and soft drinks will be provided. You might bring a pair of side cutters as the tackle kits are zip tied to the poles. I guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face.

June 13th is our first Family Outing at Glendo. We had previously mentioned that the outing would be held at Two Moon Shelter. Because of road construction that shelter will be unavailable so we will be meeting at the Sagebrush Shelter at 3:00pm which is just past the Whiskey boat ramp on the frontage road. Bring a covered dish and eating utensils if possible. The club will provide soft drinks, cooking oil, onion rings, and chips. We will give away a big fish plaque and we will have a drawing for the $100 Sportsman's Warehouse gift certificate. You don't have to be a member to attend so bring a friend.

At last month's club meeting we had two drawings for the Sportsman's Warehouse gift certificate a me missed the drawing at the April meeting. First drawing was Robert Nation who was the lucky loser and the second was Glenn Bray who wasn't. Glenn won $170 and then proceeded to win a lot of the evening's raffle items. Each month we draw from the entire membership and if that member is present they win the certificate which is increased by $10 each month until we have a winner.

Keeping track of our membership has always been a problem. Some memberships are renewed with a membership form, some just pay cash with no form, others have a friend pay member dues for them or include membership fees with the toughman entry form excluding membership forms. It makes keeping track very difficult without a paper trail. Because of that fact we will make a small rule change. All membership dues should be accompanied with a membership form. The only exception is if you need adult supervision and can prove it. Failure to comply with rule change will insure that your membership fees unaccompanied with proper paper form will be converted to a club donation which we will appreciate.

Jay Zastrow has volunteered to be the Toughman director for 2010. It has been rumored that everyone may be required to only wear pink. Stay tuned.

Glendo is fishing well. Most techniques are working. No reports on other area lakes.

Last month I published two recipes for homemade walleye baits that I found on hezinearticles.com. I wanted to publish all three I found there but didn't have room. So here is the third recipe. This one has the most potential as I would think that if it doesn't catch walleyes you could add some raisins and peanuts and then have a nice trail mix.

Sweet Dough Fish Bait

1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
10 Tablespoons of thick molasses

Mix all three ingredients until a stiff dough forms. Roll the dough into appropriately sized bait balls, drop into a pot of boiling water, and boil for ten minutes. As soon as these bait balls are done, remove them from the pot and put into cold water. Use in place of other bait options for Walleye

There was two local walleye tournaments in which North Platte Walleyes Unlimited members participated. The first was the Wyoming Walleye Circuit held May 16-17th at Glendo Reservoir. Harold and Patrick Mason finished second with a two day weight of 33.40 pounds. Mike Bailey and Don Kaufman placed 6th with a weight of 31.64 pound while Mike and Diedra Homann finished 8th with 30.26. Mike and Diedra weighed in a 12+ pound walleye on day one of the tournament. Ty Svejkovsky and Jim Brierley weighed in a two day total of 29.76 to win 9th place. Randy Ulich with Mitch Bauers rounded out the top ten with a 29.50 pound weight.

The second tournament was the Wyoming Walleye Stampede held May 30-31st also at Glendo Reservoir. First place was won by our own Rick and Mary Walter with a two day total of 49.27 pounds. Rick and Mary also won the mixed couple division and picked up another $400. Club vice president and son John and Brandon Green just missed the top ten by placing 11th with a weight of 35.88 pounds.

On the lighter side

MEN ARE JUST HAPPIER PEOPLE

NICKNAMES · If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah. · If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.

EATING OUT · When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20, even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back. · When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

MONEY · A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs. · A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.

BATHROOMS · A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel. · The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.

ARGUMENTS · A woman has the last word in any argument. · Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

FUTURE · A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. · A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

SUCCESS · A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. · A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

MARRIAGE · A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. · A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.

DRESSING UP · A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the trash, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail. · A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.

NATURAL Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed. · Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

OFFSPRING · Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams. · A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!

FYI. Our website, www.npwalleyes.com was rated #57 of all walleye sites last month. This month it is rated 44. Not sure why but lets hope we improve each month. It would be nice if we could hit the top 20.

All I ask is a chance to prove money can't make me happy.
