Meeting is 7 p.m., March 4th
at the Parkway Plaza-Senate Room

Our meetings are the first Thursday
of the month

Banquet time is here. That means this month’s club meeting will be held at the Parkway Plaza, I think in the Senate Room, walk past the reception desk and turn right, first room on the right. This will be a short meeting, which afterwards we will proceed to the kitchen and skin a few hundred pounds of walleye fillets. I believe we should be able to break the old record of 48 minutes, by at least 10 minutes.

It would be great if all the folks with outstanding books of banquet tickets would bring them to the meeting so we can get a handle of how many tickets have been sold. This has been an ongoing problem trying to get ticket sales sorted out so we can tell the Parkway how many places to set. We have to pay for the tables set even if no tickets were sold.

At each club meeting we draw from our entire membership for a $100 gift certificate from Sportsman’s Warehouse. We add $10 each month until we have a winner. Last month we had two lucky losers, Josh and Kari Svejkovsky. That is twice they have been drawn in the last three months.

We have added an club email address where you all can send your fishing reports, pictures, and the like. It is above under our title. Use it often.

We have received another Wyoming Game and Fish “Fish Wyoming” 2010 matching grant for $7500 for kids fishing poles, reels, and tackle boxes. As most of you know we also received a “Commissioner’s Tag” last month from Commissioner Jerry Galles. We had decided to put it on Ebay and see what happens. Before that took place we received two cash offers from area outfitters. We asked them to submit a written offer and we would accept the highest offer. The highest offer was $9000 which we accepted. We have not received any money as this is written so until then it is technically still available. I almost forgot, I guess I should mention that we also received a second Commissioner’s Tag from Commissioner Clifford Kirk.

I would like to mention that we have delivered 40 kids fishing poles to the Cathedral Home For Children in Laramie, WY. We will be looking into providing fishing poles to other kids facilities in the next few weeks.

Club memberships have expired this month. A membership form is included in this months newsletter. I always suggest you renew at the end of March so you have a few extra bucks to spend at the banquet. The banquet is our only fund raiser of the year so don’t be shy. Every year we try to make it better than the year before. We always like to hear of ways to make it better. If you would like to help set up the banquet, we will be meeting at the Parkway Plaza restaurant at 9:00 AM for breakfast and then proceed to the banquet room for the days chaos preceding the banquet.

Toughman Tournament

The “Toughman Tournament” is on Saturday, April 24th. This has always been a perfect fishing day as long as you don’t mind a bit of snow, ice, cold, blowing wind, and a slow bite. This is more of a membership drive than a fund raiser. Actually we try to lose a few bucks during the tournament. Applications for the toughman will be in next months newsletter and are available online at our web site. Tournament launch and weigh in will be at the Alcova Marina and all team captains will be required to check in prior to launch.

On the lighter side

The Purina Diet

Yesterday I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Biscuit, and was in the checkout line when woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I’m retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn’t have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn’t, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I’d lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter’s behind and a car hit us both.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard. Costco won’t let me shop there anymore...Better watch what you ask retired people . They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.
