Fish Skin’in Time
Well, it’s that time again. This month’s meeting will be at the Parkway Plaza, around the corner from the front desk. It will be a short meeting and afterwards we will head to the kitchen and proceed to remove the skin from the walleye fillets. We seem to set a record time each year and hope to do it again this year. We need to get all who can to show up. Afterwards all will receive a “refreshment”.
We would like to get a tally of banquet tickets sold ASAP so we can tell the Parkway how many attendees to prepare for. We could use a few more volunteers to help at the Banquet. Those who volunteer will receive a free meal. Contact a board member for details.
We have sold the commissioners tag we received last month from Wyoming Game & Fish Commissioner Clifford Kirk. We were able to get $8500 for it this year. Some of it went towards our first order of the year for 1008 kids fishing rod/reel/tackle kits. This order has been received and is in our trailer, which is filled to the roof. Another order for 1000 kits will be placed soon for delivery in late June or July.
This year we will going to Basin, WY on May 7th for their Kids Fishing Day to distribute fishing kits.. May 13th we go to Douglas, WY to the Douglas Primary School for their Wyoming Wildlife Field Day to hand out kids fishing kits. On June 4th we will be at Harry Yesness Pond in Casper and at Riverton’s Big Bend Pond for their Kids fishing Day. On June 26th we will be at Panther Pond in Wright, WY giving out fishing kits. Our last event of the year will be in Sept at the Casper Events Center for the Wyoming Hunting & Fishing Heritage Expo which is the biggest event we go to. Should be a fun year. If any fishing kits are left we will give some to Toys for Tots, and other charitable organizations at Christmas time.
Club membership is due this month. You may notice that we have reduced the fees to $20 for both single and family membership. I have suggested that you renew at the end
of the month so you have more $$ to spend at the banquet.
Last month I had the wrong date for the Toughman Tournament. It is on April 30th, the last Saturday of the month. The Casper Boat Club will have their restaurant open Friday night the 29th from 5:00 to 7:00PM with
Prime Rib, potato/veg, soup and salad bar for $19.95. They have requested we RSVP. by 1:00PM. Contact numbers for the boat club are 359-1969 and 472-6922. The Alcova Marina Bar will also be open Friday night for those who need to load up on some anti-freeze for the next days contest.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is going to produce, I believe, 13 30 minute TV shows to promote Wyoming hunting and fishing. They have contacted us and asked if we would like to participate in the program. We told then yes, so we will probably get one, possibly two shows on area lakes. These shows will be televised nationally. Now we have to find members who we can shine up enough for them to represent the North Platte Walleyes Unlimited organization. This will be a great opportunity for us to make an impression we can be proud of. Kids from in and out of state will be part of the programs.
Aquatic Invasive Species Stickers
The 2011 AIS stickers are available online from the Wyoming Game and Fish web site and from the major retail licensing agents. No zebra or quagga mussels were found in Wyoming last year. They have been found in Colorado and Utah.
Lake Levels and Information
The snow pack on the upper North Platte drainage stands at 140% of average.

AND NOW FOR THE FILLERS...
Bernie, a farmer, was in a café in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, one day having lunch, when he noticed his old friend, Big Matthew. What really caught his attention was that Matthew was wearing an earring.
Berjnie knew his old mate to be a very conservative fellow, tough and macho, and he was curious about his sudden change in ’fashion sense.’ So he approached Big Mat and gently enquired, ’Ooo, argh, Big Mat, I didn’t know you was into earrings an’ that.’
’No big deal, Bernie, argh but ’tis only an earring,’ Big Mat replied rather sheepishly.
Bernie, the farmer, was silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity got the better of him and he demanded, ’So, Big Mat, then ’ow long have you been wearing one then?’
’Ahaaa, ever since my wife found it in the glove compartment of my lorry,’ Matthew answered.
A couple in their nineties were having trouble remembering things so they went to their doctor for checkups. The doctor told them that they were both physically fine and advised them to write things down to help them remember.
Later that evening while watching television, the husband got up from his chair to go to the kitchen for a snack. He asked his wife if she wanted anything.
”Could you bring me a bowl of ice cream?” she asked.
”Sure,” he replied.
”Do you think you should write that down to remember it?” she asked.
”No, I can remember that,” he said.
”I’d like some strawberries on it, too. Do you need to write that down?” she said.
”No, I can remember that, too. Ice cream with strawberries,” he said, becoming a little irritated.
”I’d like some whipped cream on it, too. Can you remember all that? The doctor said you should write things down,” she said.
”For goodness sakes, I can remember that. I don’t need to write it down. A bowl of ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream,” he said, now more than a little irritated.
Off he went to the kitchen. About 20 minutes later he returned with a plate of bacon and eggs. The wife stared at it for a moment and said, ”Where’s my toast?”
