New May meeting site, date

We are unable to have this months meeting at Whites Marine as previously scheduled. We have moved the meeting date up one day to Wednesday May 5th. The meeting will be held in the back room of the Sandbar Lounge at 7:00 PM. We were scheduled to listen to John Lawson of the Bureau of Reclamation. He was going to give us a report on reservoir water levels for this year. Since the bar is not a good environment for such a presentation, we have rescheduled John Lawson for the June meeting at the Wyoming Game and Fish Office. We will instead, have one of our local walleye fishing experts give some sort of presentation. Should be fun, so see you there.

Start getting ready early

As the days get a little longer, we are that much closer to spring and we all know what that means. Some of the best walleye fishing is about upon us. Now is the best time of the year to stock up on supplies. With all the new catalogues coming in, it's a great place to see all the new items available for the upcoming fishing season.

I like to start in January. First, I spread all my gear out and dig through it all. I then make a list of what I need or am low on. My list includes items for the boat, rods & reels, tackle and clothing.

The first place I like to start is with my sponsor so I check out Mr.Twister.com. They list all the new colors and sizes of twister tails, the Tri-alive Series, Slimy Slugs and Sassy Shads. I normally order items "by the hundreds". If you don't need that much, split the order with a friend(s). Also, I prefer to shop local tackle shops when I can. I try to get all my shopping done by the end of March. Now is the time to fill up those tackle bags and test all those new items. That special time of year is near. Those pre-spawn walleyes will be shallow and hungry. Best of luck to you! -- Chuck McAuley
