NPWU/WyoWU has New Web site:

Now, you probably know what NPWU stands for, but what about "WyoWU"? How about Wyo. Walleyes Unlimited?

Billy Brenton has been busy developing websites and creating links. Go to www.westernwalleye.com scroll all the way down the page and click on "North Platte Walleyes Unlimited" under the Walleye Central section. I would tell you more but I want you to visit the site and see what all it has to offer. While you are there, please leave a fishing report.

Presidents Note:

Dan Majeske will be giving a presentation "cranking for walleyes" during the Big Boy Toy show at the Casper Events Center. You can listen to his presentations at 3:00 pm on Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday.

Dan will also be in the White's Marine Center booth so stop by and visit with him.

Autumn Eyes at Pathfinder:

Reports weren't good. Slow at Boysen! Slow at Glendo! I really wasn't of the mind to shake my boat apart going to Seminoe. It was mid-September and I thought "what-to-hell", I'll just go check out Pathfinder.

Things didn't change much from the middle of September to the end of October. The water temperature stayed about the same (mid to lower 50s), there was an obvious lack of boats on the water due to the onset of hunting season, some days were windy while others were calm, and the walleyes bit every time I went out. We never caught anything big but caught 12 to 16 inch eyes almost at will. After culling out the eyes under 14 inches, we usually caught enough eyes over 14 inches to make a limit of eaters if we so chose.

Jim Bauer displays a walleye hung on a harness.

Windy days proved more productive than calm days. Trolling harnesses and spin-n-glows resulted in being the most reliable method. We trolled (drifted if the wind was blowing exceptionally hard) a long submerged point extending from Canyon Creek Point, the bank west of Sand Creek Point and the bank at Cottonwood Bay to name just a few of our locations. The magic depth was anywhere between 10 and 18 feet.

Tom Durst bottom bounced this scrappy little eye.

In years past, I have had "little to so-so" luck fishing Pathfinder in the fall. We caught many more fish over 14 inches this year as compared to the past. Some of the walleyes are still a little on the thin side, reminding me of sauger in appearance.

We are presently experiencing a prolonged cold snap. Past experiences on this lake would dictate slowing way down in colder water (40s). Dragging or drifting a jig and crawler or Lindy rig and crawler "slowly" has proven effective in the past.

Goldeneye Ramp Update:

Construction has begun. In the photo below, you will see that the base has been shaped and laid. Re-bar is being placed to reinforce the concrete. This photo is about a week old so by now, and weather permitting, it is probably ready for the concrete.
