![]() North Platte WU Newsletter Editors 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Game and Fish Building Not much news this month. We did finalize the deal with Parkway Plaza for our 2006 banquet. It is scheduled for Saturday, March 4th. We have penciled in Friday night, March 3rd for a speaker presentation that needs to be worked out. We have tentatively reserved a room that will hold 400 people for the speakers night. The Parkway Plaza asked to be part sponsor of our banquet and gave us a good price on the meals. Tickets will be available in December. We would like our members to start thinking about collecting donations for the banquet fund-raising. We will be working on various aspects of the banquet at our monthly meetings and would like those interested persons to come help with this and other projects. Rick Walter will be giving a presentation/ tips for fishing the fall months on our open water at this month's meeting. Fishing Reports-Tips-& tricks I talked with Al Condor, chief fish biologist in the Casper office of the Wyoming Game and Fish about Goldeneye Reservoir. He explained that things were looking bleak out there. The North Platte River has a salinity level of 400 PPM while Goldeneye has a reading of 16,000 PPM. The fish are not doing well at all as the forage base has dwindled greatly also. Only the carp can handle this high of a salinity level. The fish that are there are in the 14" to 15" range and are hungry. The fishing reports I have are that Boysen is slow with the best chances being vertical jigs near the dam in the 30' to 50' range and jig and plastics/minnows over the points in the 5' to 30' levels. Glendo seems to be doing well with fish being caught with jigging spoons in the 15' out to 50' levels. Off the points seems the place to be. The lures that seem to be working are Kastmaster's silver, Hopkins jigs, and Buckshot rattle spoons in silver. A lot of small 6" to 10" fish are being caught which bears well for the upcoming years. On the brighter side...... A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?" Without missing a beat, one little boy answered, "Thou shall not kill." "Can you tell me why so many famous Civil War battles were fought on National Park sites?" -- asked of a librarian "How will that help?" -- Kindergarten student, when the class was instructed to hold up two fingers if any of them had to go to the bathroom "You should always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't come to yours." -- Yogi Berra "It depends. Are you coming from the north or south?" -- A man, when asked if one should turn east or west after getting off the freeway. "There comes a time to put principle aside and do what's right." -- annonymous legislator "A permanent set of teeth consists of eight canines, eight cupids, two molars, and eight cuspidors." -- quotes from exams and papers assigned to 7th through 12th students wyowalleyenewsletter@hotmail.com Tight Lines -- Woody and Bruce |
