Meeting is 7 p.m., November 5,
at Wyoming Game and Fish in Casper
Our meetings are the first Thursday
of the month
It was an interesting month of October. At our monthly meeting it was decided to order $5000 worth of fishing poles in order to avoid late deliveries. The order was placed and we were told they would not ship until late in the month. This was for the same model pole we had ordered in March and failed to show up in time for the September Outdoor Expo, which forced us to do a tap dance and get substitutions (which did not have tackle boxes) shipped here in time. I would have thought the first order would have arrived and been used to fill the second order.
About a week later we received a clearance sale ad for some poles that were essentially the same as the ones we had just ordered, but a lot cheaper. Quick phone calls latter it was decided to take all 400 of the advertised poles. An order was placed for the 400 poles at $7.22 each which came to $2888. The next day an invoice was received for the $2888 and $180 shipping. Orders over $3000 are shipped free. A call was made to see if we could increase our order to avoid shipping charges and we were told it was ok to do but had to come from the clearance items. 25 “catfish poles” were ordered at $14+ as they were the only ones with tackle boxes. Doing the math, avoiding the shipping means we got these poles at approximately $10 each. A few days later invoice arrives that stated only 365 poles were available and total bill with catfish poles would be 2888 and with shipping charges waived. When the poles arrived mid month, only 10 catfish poles arrived and the remainder were “backordered”. I will bring one of the catfish poles to our next meeting so we can decide how we may use them. As a side note, the 365 poles that arrived are one foot longer than previous ones but otherwise the same. When the $5000 order arrives soon we will have 12-1300 poles on hand.
Towards the end of October, calls were made to Glendo Reservoir regarding the courtesy dock we purchased for Glendo but did find a home at any boat launch. It was agreed that we would come down and get the dock and move them to Pathfinder. The Pathfinder Boat Club said they would be glad to have the docks and would put them to use. Jay Zastrow, Bob Gervais, Howard Tilton and Woody Giles went down to get the docks. Three vehicles were taken, two with boats in tow to bring the the docks back. We were told the docks would be at the maintenance buildings but when we arrived at the maintenance yard no docks were found. Again we attracted the police, which seems to be the case when Howard is along. After a bit of conversation and phone calls, the park police said he would go look for the dock. A short while later he returned with good news, the dock was found. We followed him to the location and he helped lift the dock onto
the flatbed trailer. The dock was delivered the next day to Pathfinder.
There are some pieces missing, the local dealer is White’s Marine, they are
checking the prices for the pieces we need to repair and make usable the
dock. Missing is the ramp from shore to dock, and the connecting clamps
that hold the docks together and a couple of the boat tie off cleats are
broken.
I received this email recently. I invited Ms Teevens to come to our November meeting to give a presentation and she accepted. Following is the body of the email:
Natrona County manages Alcova, Pathfinder and Gray Reef for the Bureau of Reclamation. The current master plan for Alcova, Gray Reef and Pathfinder was completed in 1985. Recreation and boating have changed. An update to the master plan is needed for Natrona County to more effectively manage this great resource.
Over the next 18 to 24 months, Natrona County and their consultant will be updating the master plans for all three reservoirs. The process required by the Bureau of Reclamation is complex and comprehensive, but when complete will allow Natrona County to manage this resource for the next 20 years. The process includes numerous public meetings and public input. The master plan is really about what the public wants to see for the next 20 years.
We would like to include groups that have a special interest and intimate knowledge or use of the area to help us get started. I believe your group has that knowledge. Our first step is to gather a data base of groups and individuals so we can e-mail updates and keep communication flowing. We will also be setting up a project web site where project information will be posted.
Just let me know your club contact information or member information whichever you prefer. We will add you to our mailing list. I would be happy to attend one of your meetings to answer any questions you or your group might have. Just let me know how I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Margaret Teevens

I forgot to mention last month that we have a new Wyoming Game and fish biologist in the Casper office, his name is Nathan Cook. We will invite him to one of our meetings soon so we can welcome him to Casper.
I also forgot to mention that the Bishop Point boat ramp at Pathfinder is useable and the County and the Wyoming Game and Fish will keep it useable.
At each monthly meeting we have a drawing of the entire membership. If that member is present they win a $100 gift certificate from Sportsman’s Warehouse. Each month we add $10 to the pot. The October lucky loser was Russell Van. November’s drawing is worth $120.
It is time for us to start preparing and planning our annual “All You Can Eat” walleye banquet. At this months meeting we will picking dates and times for the banquet committee to meet. We can always use more people to help plan and do the various chores associated with putting the banquet on. Constructive criticism is always welcome also.
Area waters
Pathfinder Reservoir rose over a foot during the month of October and is still rising. It is currently 71% full. Wyoming game and fish is currently considering adding gizzard shad to Pathfinder next spring.

Recipes
We loved this twist on crispy, breaded fish. The coarse-crumb coating gets a flavor boost from Parmesan cheese and a touch of cayenne pepper. And the bed of vegetables underneath the fish cooks into a delicious “relish.”
1/2 cup thinly sliced leek (white and pale green parts only)
1/2 cup shredded sweet potato
1/4 teaspoon salt, divided
2 (6-oz.) walleye or other lean white fish fillets, such as tilapia or flounder
1/2 cup panko*
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Dash cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Lemon wedges
1. Heat oven to 400°F. Combine leek, sweet potato and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt in small bowl. Arrange leek mixture on small rimmed baking sheet to match dimensions of fish fillets; top with fish. Sprinkle with remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt.
2. Combine panko, cheese and cayenne pepper in small bowl; stir in butter. Spread over fish. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until fish just begins to flake and crumbs are lightly browned. Serve with lemon wedges.
TIP *Panko are coarse bread crumbs usually found next to other bread crumbs or in the Asian section of the supermarket.

On the lighter side
Old golfers
A foursome of senior golfers hit the course with waning enthusiasm for the sport.
”These hills are getting steeper as the years go by,” one complained.
”These fairways seem to be getting longer too,” wheezed a second.
”And somehow, the sand traps seem to be bigger than I remember ’em too,” said the third.
Hearing just about enough from his buddies, the oldest, and the wisest of the foursome at 87-years-old, piped up and said, ”Oh my friends, just be thankful we’re still on THIS side of the grass!”
From the Cooking Club Magazine:
One rainy Sunday afternoon, a young couple were on their way to their Church to get married. On the way there, their car lost control and slammed into a telephone pole – killing them both instantly.
The couple soon found themselves standing in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, welcoming them to Heaven. The young woman asks Peter if they could get married in Heaven, since their time on Earth was cut short. He replies that he’ll get back with them on that request.
A month later, St. Peter finds them and announces that they can – in fact – get arried in Heaven. To his suprise, the woman asks “Just wondering, if things don’t work out will we be able to get a divorce?”
With a stern look in his eye, Peter blurts out “Look lady, it took me a month to find a preacher up here… you really think I’m gonna find a lawyer?”
